Many of us are feeling that knot of anxiety in our stomachs when we think about the potential changes to DACA and what it could mean for our futures. The unpredictability can feel overwhelming, and it's completely valid to have those fears. We’re navigating a path that’s often filled with uncertainty, and it can be tough to find our footing when the ground feels shaky.
One thing that has helped me is staying informed about the current landscape. Keeping up with news updates and community discussions helps take away some of that fear of the unknown. It can feel like we’re not entirely in control, but knowing what’s happening can give us a sense of agency. Many of us have found it helpful to join local or online groups where we can share information and resources. Engaging in conversations with others who understand our situation can lighten that heavy load.
Another approach some of us try is focusing on what we can control, even when everything else feels uncertain. For instance, I’ve been working on building skills and experiences that enhance my resume. This not only prepares us for whatever comes next but also helps boost our confidence. Connecting with mentors or peers who have faced similar challenges can be a great way to gain insight and encouragement on this journey. Having even one person who truly understands this struggle can make a significant difference.
We also need to remember the importance of self-care during this time. It’s easy to get caught up in the worry, but taking small breaks to engage in activities that bring us joy or relaxation can help maintain our mental health. Whether that’s spending time with friends, practicing mindfulness, or even just enjoying a favorite hobby, these moments of peace can help us recharge.
Anyone else feeling the weight of these changes? It can be a lot to handle alone, and sometimes just talking to someone who gets it makes all the difference. What have you found helpful in coping with these fears?
