How do you cope with the anxiety of not knowing what changes might come to DACA?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
Many of us navigate a rollercoaster of emotions when it comes to DACA. The uncertainty of what changes might come can feel overwhelming, and it’s totally normal to feel anxious about it. With every news cycle, our hearts race as we wonder how it will affect our lives. One way I cope is by staying informed, but I’ve learned to set boundaries on how much news I consume. It’s easy to get sucked into a loop of anxiety when we’re constantly refreshing our feeds. Instead, I check in with trusted sources at specific times during the week, which gives me a sense of control and reduces that constant worry. Another approach that really helps is connecting with others who share these feelings. I found a small group of fellow DACA recipients, and we started meeting regularly—either in person or virtually. Just talking about our fears, hopes, and plans has made a huge difference. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone in this and that others truly understand the weight of living with this uncertainty. On tougher days, grounding techniques can be a lifesaver. Simple things like deep breathing or taking a walk can help calm the storm of anxiety in our minds. Some of us even share our coping strategies within our group, like journaling or creating art to express what we’re going through. It’s amazing how sharing these little tips can bring us closer together. What about you? How do you cope with the anxiety of not knowing what changes might come to DACA? Sometimes just knowing we’re all in this together makes the journey feel a little lighter.
