How do you cope with seeing other pregnant people when you're still processing your loss?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
Seeing other pregnant people when we're still processing our loss can feel like a punch to the gut, can’t it? Many of us know that jarring mix of emotions — joy for them sometimes clashing with our own sadness and longing. It's a tough space to navigate, and there’s no right way to handle it. One thing that has helped me is allowing myself to feel whatever comes up without judgment. It’s okay to feel a little envious or sad when I see a baby bump or hear a pregnancy announcement. I've found it helpful to take a moment to breathe, acknowledge my feelings, and remind myself that these emotions are valid. We’re all on our own journey, and it’s perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about someone else's happiness. Another approach some of us try is creating a safe emotional space for ourselves. This could mean stepping back from social media for a bit, especially if it feels like every scrolling session is a reminder of our loss. Instead, I reached out to a couple of friends who have also experienced loss. We started sharing our thoughts and feelings when we see something that triggers us. Having that support makes the heavy moments a little lighter, and it helps to know we’re not alone in this. It can also be grounding to focus on self-care during these emotionally charged times. Whether it's treating ourselves to a favorite show, journaling about our feelings, or even taking a long walk, these little acts of kindness can help us reconnect with ourselves. And sometimes, just having even one person in your life who truly understands this can change everything. I remember connecting with someone who had a similar experience, and we started talking regularly. That support made those difficult moments feel a bit more manageable. Anyone else navigating this complicated landscape? It can be so isolating, but sometimes just sharing these experiences with someone who gets it can make a world of difference. What has helped you cope when you're surrounded by reminders?
