How do you cope with reminders of pregnancy announcements in social media and in real life?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
We’ve all been there — scrolling through social media and suddenly seeing a pregnancy announcement that hits like a ton of bricks. It feels like a punch in the gut, doesn’t it? Many of us know that feeling of joy mixed with grief, and it’s completely normal to feel a wave of emotions wash over you. It can be tough navigating a world that seems to celebrate milestones that we’ve longed for but may never experience the same way. One thing that really helps me is curating my feed to create a more supportive space. I started following accounts that share stories of pregnancy loss and healing. It’s comforting to see that I’m not alone in this journey. Engaging with people who truly understand what we’ve been through can be a balm for our wounds. If you find a community online that resonates with you, consider reaching out — even a simple comment can lead to meaningful connections. Another approach that some of us try is to take breaks from social media altogether, especially during times that might be triggering, like holidays or due dates. It’s okay to step back and protect your heart. You might also find it helpful to unfollow or mute certain accounts temporarily while you’re in a more vulnerable state. Trust your instincts; if something doesn’t feel right for you, don’t hesitate to make that change. In real life, reminders can be even harder to escape. If you’re close to friends or family who are expecting, it might feel overwhelming. We’ve found that being honest about our feelings can be liberating. You could let your loved ones know that while you’re happy for them, you may need some space or a different approach to celebrate. Many of us have found that having even one person in your life who truly understands this can make a world of difference. Sharing our experiences and feelings with someone who gets it — even if it's just through text or a coffee chat — can really lighten the load. Anyone else dealing with this? It can feel so isolating, but sometimes just talking to someone who gets it makes all the difference. What has helped you cope with those reminders?
