How do you cope when everyone around you seems to be having babies?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
It can feel really overwhelming when it seems like everyone around us is celebrating new babies and growing families. Many of us know that gut-wrenching feeling of scrolling through social media and seeing pregnancy announcements, baby showers, or even just the cute baby photos that flood our feeds. It's a sharp reminder of what we might be longing for, and it’s okay to feel a mix of emotions—joy for our friends, but also sadness and frustration for ourselves. One thing that helps me cope is finding small ways to celebrate my own journey, even if it looks different from what I once imagined. For instance, I started keeping a journal where I can express my feelings without judgment. This space allows me to process my emotions, whether it's anger, grief, or even the occasional glimmer of hope. Writing down my thoughts can help me sort through the complexity of what I’m feeling, and it's something we can all try. Another approach that has worked for many of us is leaning on each other. Connecting with someone who truly understands this struggle can make a world of difference. I found a couple of friends who are also navigating infertility, and we check in with each other regularly. Just talking about our experiences—whether it’s sharing the latest news from our fertility treatments or simply venting about the baby boom around us—has been incredibly comforting. Knowing we’re not alone in this helps us all cope better with the hard days. Also, it's okay to set boundaries. If certain social gatherings or online spaces are too painful right now, it's perfectly fine to take a step back. Many of us have found that prioritizing our mental well-being sometimes means saying no to events that feel too triggering. We deserve that space to heal without added pressure. Navigating this journey can be isolating, but reaching out to even one person who gets it can lighten the load. Anyone else feeling the weight of this baby boom around us? What have you found helps you cope?
