Has anyone else felt isolated from their family because of their experiences as a Toda?

Many of us have felt that sting of isolation from our families because of our experiences as a Toda. It can be tough when our identities and beliefs don't always align with those of our loved ones. The weight of feeling misunderstood or disconnected can sometimes feel unbearable, right? One thing that really helped me was finding others who share my experiences — it was like stepping into a space where I could finally breathe. We started meeting regularly, sharing stories about our struggles and triumphs as Todas. Just having that connection made me feel less alone, and it reminded me that I’m not the only one navigating this path. Another approach some of us find helpful is to gently share aspects of our culture and identity with family members. It could be something as simple as inviting them to a Toda celebration or sharing a favorite tradition. Even small gestures can spark conversations and help bridge that gap, allowing them to see a glimpse of our world. It’s also important to be honest about our feelings. If you're comfortable, expressing that sense of isolation to family members might open the door to deeper understanding. Many of us have found that vulnerability can lead to more meaningful conversations, even if it’s met with a bit of resistance at first. Anyone else feeling this disconnect with family?
