How do you cope with the frustration of being denied access to basic services?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
Many of us in the Stateless/Bidoon community know the frustration and helplessness that comes with being denied access to basic services. It’s tough when you feel invisible and unheard, especially when it comes to things like healthcare, education, or even employment opportunities. These struggles can leave us feeling isolated and defeated, but there are ways we can cope and support one another through these challenges. One thing that often helps is sharing our experiences with each other. Talking about the specific situations we've faced can bring clarity and validation. For example, I remember feeling completely overwhelmed when I tried to access healthcare services, only to be met with barriers. Connecting with someone who had navigated a similar situation made a world of difference. We started exchanging tips on how to advocate for ourselves and support each other through the process. Another approach we might find helpful is to document our experiences. Keeping a record of the times we've been denied services can not only help us process our feelings but also serve as a powerful tool when advocating for our rights. Sharing these documented experiences with local organizations or even among ourselves can amplify our voices and show the systemic issues we're facing. It’s a way to turn our frustration into action. Sometimes, it’s the small victories that can help us cope. Finding community resources or safe spaces where we can gather and share our stories can uplift us when things feel particularly heavy. When we come together, whether in person or online, it helps to lighten the load. You might find that just having one person who understands can make a tough day a little easier to bear. Anyone else dealing with this? It can be incredibly isolating, but sharing our stories and strategies can really help us feel less alone. What has helped you cope with these frustrations?
