Many of us feel the weight of navigating our Sami identity in a world that often pushes for conformity to more mainstream customs. One thing that has helped me is actively participating in cultural events, even if they’re small or local. Being surrounded by others who share our stories and customs can be incredibly grounding. I remember attending a traditional gathering in my community where we shared stories, songs, and even meals that reflect our heritage. It reminded me that we’re not alone in this struggle and that our identity is valid, no matter how we choose to express it in today’s world.
