What is one moment or resource that helped you finally understand what you were experiencing with PTSD?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
For a long time I didn't have words for what was happening in my body. Jumping at small noises, feeling wired for no reason, scanning every room I walked into like something was about to go wrong. I just thought that was who I was. It wasn't until I stumbled across some plain-language info on hypervigilance and hyperarousal that things started clicking into place, and recognizing symptoms of PTSD in my own daily life finally gave me language for what I'd been living with. Reading through National Center for PTSD resources was honestly one of the first times I felt like someone was describing my actual life instead of a textbook version of it. It made me curious how other people got to that same "oh, that's what this is" moment. Sometimes it's a resource, sometimes it's a conversation, sometimes it's finding support for PTSD in a group or forum like this one and realizing someone else's story matches your own. What is one moment or resource that helped you finally understand what you were experiencing with PTSD?
