Have you ever felt disconnected from your Naga roots while living outside your community?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
Have you ever felt a twinge of longing for your Naga roots while living far from home? Many of us know that feeling all too well. Being away from our community can sometimes make us feel disconnected from our culture, traditions, and even our identity. One thing that has helped me is finding ways to keep our traditions alive, even from a distance. For instance, I started cooking traditional Naga dishes, and it’s like a little piece of home comes back to me with every meal. Sharing recipes or cooking together with other Naga friends, even over video calls, can really help bridge that gap. It’s a comforting reminder of who we are and where we come from. Another approach that many of us find valuable is connecting with others who share our experiences. I reached out to a few fellow Nagas in my area, and we’ve started a small group where we share stories about our lives back home, discuss our culture, and celebrate our festivals together, even if it’s just online. Having that sense of community, even if it’s virtual, can make such a huge difference. It can feel isolating sometimes, but knowing that there are others who understand this struggle can provide so much comfort. Also, listening to Naga music or watching films that reflect our culture can help us feel more connected. It’s amazing how a song or a familiar face on screen can evoke memories and feelings of belonging. If you have any favorite songs or films that resonate with your Naga identity, sharing those with others can spark meaningful conversations and connections. Anyone else dealing with this feeling of disconnection from our Naga roots? I’d love to hear your experiences and what’s helped you feel closer to home!
