The pressure to conform: does anyone else feel a constant need to prove their worth as a Matang?

🌱 Belong Community Resource
Does anyone else feel that constant pressure to prove our worth as Matang? It can feel like we're always walking a tightrope, trying to balance who we truly are with what society expects from us. Many of us know the weight of those expectations, whether it's from our families, peers, or even ourselves. It’s exhausting, isn't it? One thing that has helped me is finding moments to celebrate our unique perspectives rather than trying to fit into a mold. For instance, I started keeping a journal where I jot down my achievements, big or small, that reflect my Matang identity. When I feel that pressure creeping in, I read through those entries and remind myself that my worth isn’t measured by how well I conform to societal norms but by the richness I bring to the table as a Matang. Another approach some of us try is connecting with others who share our experiences. Having even one person in your life who truly understands the nuances of being Matang can make a world of difference. I found a friend in this community who resonates with my struggles, and we’ve started meeting up to share our thoughts and feelings. Just knowing someone else gets it takes a huge load off my shoulders. And let’s be real, it’s not always easy. Some days, the comparison game can be relentless, and it can feel like we’re not doing enough. But I’ve learned to be kinder to myself. We’re all on our own journeys, and it’s okay to take our time. So, anyone else feeling this pressure lately? Sometimes just talking to someone who gets it makes all the difference — what’s your experience?
