Many of us know that sinking feeling when the check arrives at a restaurant and suddenly the spotlight is on us for splitting the bill or figuring out the tip. It can be overwhelming, right? The pressure of numerical tasks in social situations often feels like a game we didn’t sign up for, and it can make us want to avoid those outings altogether. One thing that helped me was being upfront with my friends about my struggles with numbers. I found that many of them were surprisingly supportive and even willing to help out. For example, when the bill comes, I might say, “Hey, I’m not great with math, could you help me figure this out?” This simple honesty not only eased my anxiety but also opened the door for a deeper connection with my friends.
